From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Practicing manuvers, experienced engine failure, landed in a plowed field and flipped. (-23) during solo flight in the practice area, this student pilot encountered engine failure while practicing steep turns. When the engine quit the pilot did not attempt to restart or isolate the problem. During the landing roll out that followed in a soft plowed field the aircraft flipped over. Post accident investigation found the fuel mixture control in a maximum lean setting sustaining substantial damage. The aircraft was turned over, the mixture pushed in and an engine performance run was performed with no discrepancies noted.
