From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on June 16, 1996, at approximately 1300 EST, a Piper PA32R-301, N8429X, registered to b.g.p., inc., 11 medical park, Morehead city, NC 28557, landed at the Morehead city/Beaufort airport (mrh). Upon landing, the nose gear collapsed. Mr. Ball, the pilot and co-owner, stated that he had an electrical problem. He attempted to lower the gear electrically but it would not lower. He then used the emergency extension system. Pilot did not know if gear was down and locked due to electrical system failure. Pilot made normal landing and rolled about 50 feet when nose gear collapsed. Damage to aircraft was to prop with minor damage to cowling. Mechanic at air east, inc., found the alternator totally failed. It was also found that the jack aircraft function was a little slow when using the emergency extension system due to a lack of lubricant. No further action is planned.
