From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on June 17, 1996, at approximately 1245 MDT, sunjet flight 610, a DC-9-81, enroute from long beach, CA. To dallas/ft. worth, diverted to El Paso, TX due to an engine oil pressure problem. The crew reported the right engine oil pressure light came on at which time they accomplished the abnormal procedures check list. The light went out then came on again prompting the crew to again follow the abnormal check list and divert into El Paso. Oil pressure was not lost when the light illuminated on either occasion. The maintenance post landing inspection of the engine revealed metal in the screen. The engine was replaced prior to returning the aircraft to service.
