From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Started engine brakes off. Rolled thru a chain fence into parked truck. Aircraft has hand brake only. (-23) on June 18, 1996, at approximately 2010 CDT, a Piper PA-28-180, N6634J, received substantial damage during taxi at Arlington Municipal Airport, Arlington, Texas. The certified flight instructor stated that the student pilot had received instruction in previous aircraft that were equipped with toe brakes. This aircraft was equipped only with hand brakes. When the engine started the brakes had not been set and the aircraft rapidly advanced toward a chain link fence. The aircraft was moving too fast to stop and broke through the chain link fence and then struck a pickup truck. The aircraft received substantial damage to the outboard half of the left wing. The engine was producing substantial power when part of the propeller was located approximately 1/4 mile away lodged in the roof of the local fire station.
