From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on June 6, 1996 at approximately 1955 hours, a Beech D95A, N8965M, piloted by thomas j. baker, a private pilot, experienced some difficulties while making a touch and go landing on runway 14 at the new Castle county airport, Wilmington, DE. It would appear that the pilot selected the landing gear lever to the up position during his touch and go landing and the landing gear folded. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and a flight plan had not been filed for this local flight. The pilot, sole occupant of the aircraft was not injured and the aircraft received only minor damage. During an interview, the pilot stated he was on a local flight and during his landing, "everything happened fast", after touchdown, he started to accelerate and the gear folded. The pilot would not admit he moved the landing gear handle to the up position, however, the flap handle was still in the full down position. In a later phone interview with inspector elkan, the pilot admitted he may have selected the landing gear lever to the up position instead of the flap selection lever which was observed still in the full down position at the incident full flaps is not the correct selection for a touch & go take-off. privacy data omitted Incident closed.
