From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Lost control after picking up a banner that snagged rudder. Unable release banner. Stalled. Crashed. (-23) the aircraft collided with the terrain following a loss of control during a banner tow operation. Shortly after picking up the banner, the PIC transmitted on UNICOM frequency that his rudder was jammed, and that he could not release the banner. After the third attempt to land, the banner snagged an obstruction during the go-around. The aircraft stalled, impacted the terrain, and was destroyed. The PIC received fatal injuries.
