From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: solo student was landing on runway 11 r @ Vero Beach, FL. On short final solo student observed an uncommanded drift to the right due to a x-wind. Solo student selected to go around and as he rapidly applied throttle the aircraft engine sputtered and failed to accelerate. Solo student then selected to close the throttle and execute a soft field landing in the grass adjacent to the runway. Fuel source at preflight and sun aviation was checked by state officials at this inspector's request and was found to be contaminated. A "stop sell" order was issued until the problem was corrected.
