From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: pilot stated that the aircraft was being maneuvered in a power-off stall practice procedure at 2,500 feet MSL. Upon recovery from the maneuver, the throttle was advanced and only 1500 RPM was produced by the engine. A system check of the magnetos and fuel along with carb heat was performed, which produced no correction or change in RPM. The aircraft was set into an off power glide attitude and an emergency was declared and landing made in field. After inspection of the aircraft engine, it was determined that a piece of the flapper valve from the carburetor heat box had broken off into the carburetor. The valve was replaced and the aircraft was returned to service and flown out of the field. A malfunction or defect report was submitted to this office.
