From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: during the landing phase of carnival 33 from isp to pbi, aircraft became engulfed in heavy thunderstorm and rainshowers reducing visibility to zero. Following touchdown, aircraft departed runway 27R to the north (right hand side) paralleling it for approximately 1,000 feet before reentering runway. Resulting damage from striking a taxiway information sign and runway light was limited to left engine nose cowl from 6 o'clock thru 8 o'clock position and numerous compressor blades-minor damage. Flightcrew were removed from line status and given FAA observed proficiency checks (PIC 8/8/96, SIC 8/15/96). Forms 8710-1 submitted 8/20/96 by pdi john roseborough, pilot and at controller statements and at tape verified this account of incident (fll 96IN170043). This investigation and report are closed.
