From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: aircraft experienced a total loss of power at about 10,000 feet MSL, 20 miles southwest of Olympia, Washington. A non eventful landing was accomplished onto runway 35 at Olympia, Washington. The aircraft had departed cameron park, California about 4 hours and 50 minutes prior to the loss of power. The pilot stated during a telephone interview that he had departed cameron park and was enroute to boundry bay, british columbia. He had made this same trip several times before. He stated that he was using about 55% power and had departed with full fuel tanks. The pilot operating handbook for the Mooney M-20 gives an approximate endurance of almost 7 hours at 55% power at 10,000 feet, when properly leaned. He stated that the fuel gages did not read empty, however, when full fuel was added to the aircraft, it took 51.9 gallons. The aircraft holds 52 gallons of useable fuel.
