From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on August 11, 1996 at 0830Z CDT local, a fedex MD11-11F aircraft N616FE cargo unloading incident occurred at their gate #39. The removal of a 4000 lb. Container resulted in a 1300 lb. Tail heavy condition. The aircraft's nose wheel tie down strap came loose and the aircraft tipped up. The lower rear cargo door on the left side of the aircraft hit the unloader structure. This prevented the aircraft tail from striking the ramp and causing significant damage. To lower the aircraft, the load was moved forward and the aircraft nose wheel was slowly lowered and secured for normal off loading operations. Fedex has issued a work order to provide a double lock on the tie down strap hook that came loose. This will prevent future incidents of this type.
