From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: pilot was enroute from siloam springs, ar to london, OH when his navigation radio failed. Pilot was unable to reach anyone on the com. Radio to determine his exact location. Pilot only had approx. 10 gal. Of fuel remaining. Because of the haze he elected to make a precautionary landing on a gravel road. After landing on the road the right wing struck a mail box. Pilot moved the aircraft left to avoid an oncoming telephone pole when the aircraft departed the road and crossed a ditch and came to rest when the nose gear collapsed. This case considered closed with the submission of this report. Pilot failed to keep track of his progress on the flight path. Because of this he was unsure of his position when his nav. Radio failed.
