From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: PIC recently purchased a/c & was practicing t/o's & landings in preparation for a flt review. During the 2nd landing, the landing gear collapsed after touchdown. Damage was limited to lower fuselage skin, bent props, rt. Flap bracket. A gear retraction test was witnessed by inspector coddington of the kc FSDO on 08-26-96. The landing gear system functioned properly. It was noted that the gear safe & in transit lites were turned down completely & could not illuminate until the iris's were opened. PIC stated that he thought he had not completely engaged the gear extension handle. With the gear lites turned down there was no way to tell if the gear was safely extended. privacy data omitted This incident, #CE96IGA0127, is closed.
