From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: the aircraft departed salt lake city, Utah on August 24, 1996 at approximately 11:00 MDT. The pilot intended to execute several practice IFR approaches at various airports in Utah and Colorado. Delta, Utah was the first stop on the flight's itinerary. Following the practice approaches at Delta, Utah, the aircraft made a landing at the Delta, Utah airport. Following the landing and as the aircraft began to taxi off the runway, the aircraft experienced a collapse of the right main landing gear. The pilot shut the engines down and he and the safety pilot evacuated the airplane. After determining that it was safe to do so both of them re-entered the aircraft to retrieve some of their possessions. At that time they noticed that the landing gear switch was indeed in the down or extended position. The gear struts did appear to be extended a little more than usual. No further action is being taken regarding this case. This case is closed. This is a final report.
