From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: co-pilot (botto) was making the takeoff from the right seat on runway 3R when both pilots noticed a shimmy in the nosewheel at somewhere above 70 knots and the captain (wood) called for an abort. Power was reduced and the props put into reverse but the shimmy worsened as the airplane slowed. The airplane veered to the left side of the runway as the nosewheel collapsed. Inspection of the nose wheel assy. Showed that the tube had failed along a mold line causing the shimmy. This investigation is considered closed with the submission of this report. The tube failure appears to be a manufacturing defect. This defect was located along an internal mold line of the tube. An m or d report has been submitted listing the lot number and cure date of this tire.
