From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: pilot departed bolton airport (2I4) to refuel at Madison County Airport (uyf). Pilot contacted columbus approach control for flight following. Pilot reported Madison County Airport in sight and was turned over to UNICOM frequency. The pilot stated he put the landing gear down and did a "gumps" check. The approach was normal until he heard noise. After the aircraft stopped, the pilot turned off the avionics master switch, the fuel selector, and retracted the flaps. He then exited the aircraft and called the airport manager from the airport payphone then he called dayton fss to alert them to his aircraft being disabled on the runway. After a counseling meeting with Dr. Goldsmith it is the determination of this office that PIC goldsmith did in fact fail to extend the landing gear upon approach to landing at hyf on 9-5-96. The aircraft landing gear system appeared to be functioning proper at this time;. Life and property of others not endangered.
