From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Rough engine landed sod strip. Checked out. Veered off alignment on takeoff into trees. Full flaps early liftoff. (-23) pilot stated he took off for a pleasure flight from pwa about 0830. He preflighted airplane--fuel to about 1" to 1.5" below cap and secured caps. He flew to el reno, yukon, union city and minco when the engine began to run rough (pulled carb heat on). While trying to land at Thompson airstrip near Tuttle, OK, the airplane's spinner clipped a power line. After checking airplane for damage and doing a full engine runup, he decided to return to wiley post airport. As airplane approached rotation speed during takeoff, the airplane veered left and was unable to maintain right directional control. Airplane veered to left impacting fence row at cross fencing. No one was injured.
