From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: student pilot stated she was in traffic pattern at (15G) Weltzien Skypark and noted another aircraft ahead in the traffic pattern. Opposite the end of runway 21 she pulled carb heat on and throttled back to idle. Pilot extended downwind because of aircraft ahead. When the aircraft was 45 degree off her left she started her base leg and increased power (engine was running). There was no response. She put carb heat on, applied full power and pulled up the flaps. The engine quit running. Pilot called Skypark and said she was going down and turned toward the field on river styx road to avoid the homes on final approach. Upon landing in bean field, nose wheel strut broke loose from engine mount, aircraft rolled approximately 50 ft. and flipped over. The following day the aircraft was uprighted. The flap handle was up, carb heat off, throttle full forward and mixture control full out. (Cutoff). Student said she never touched the mixture control. Upon testing engine started and ran satisfactorily.
