From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: the pilot wrote: I departed ipt for avfr flight to mgw and then to lwb. I was in level flight at 6500 when the engine suddenly lost power and went to idle. I contacted cleveland center and requested a vector to the nearest airport. I received a vector to indian lake, but was unable to make it. I landed in a field about 15 miles from somerset, PA near the intersection of rt 160 and the shankeville road. The plane stopped at a drainage ditch and nosed over. I was not injured. Apparent damage to the plane was one blade of the propeller which was bent to the spinner and to the gear doors. "Submission of this report closes this incident."
