From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on jan 11, 1997, Mr. Christopher huey was on an aerobatic practice flight. After performing several maneuvers, he noticed the aircraft required additional right aileron input to keep aircraft in level flight. Further investigation led Mr. Huey to notice the right aileron spade was bent back. Mr. Huey notified Mesa Falcon tower declaring an emergency and landed without further incident. The right aileron spade attachment arm had cracked above the "tig" weld point. The aileron spade was bent aft due to the aerodynamic forces placed upon it causing roll instability. Incident closed.
