From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: according to the CFI, Mr. Rookstool was attempting a 3-point landing with a direct x/wind of 12 knots. The tail wheel touched down just prior to the main gear and the left wing began to rise. The CFI made aileron & rudder corrections; however, the tail wheel steering seemed ineffective. N420TP'S right wing & elevator contacted the runway causing minor damage, and the right main wheel suffered side loading sufficient to bend the wheel strut. Post-incident inspection revealed the right tail wheel spring & attachment was missing. privacy data omitted N420TP is registered to: avidair helicopter supply privacy data omitted Mr. Rookstool is president of avidair. This incident, no. CE97IGA0047, is closed.
