From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-5)C140 stopped suddenly to avoid collission with another aircraft. Warren s. williams, privacy data omitted March 16, 1997, I am writing to describe an incident I saw this afternoon at Ann Arbor airport. I was taxing behind a Cessna 140 who I heard cleared to taxi to his destination. A blue and whit Cessna was taxing quickly on the parallel taxiway and cut in front of the Cessna 140. The Cessna 140 had to jam on the brakes to avoid being hit by the blue and white Cessna. I could see the tail lift when the 140 stopped to avoid being hit. Then the 140 continued to nose over and struck the prop. It ended up resting on the prop and spinner. Pilot statement: my aircraft (3020N, a tailwheel airplane) was being repositioned to the other side of the airport. I had been cleared by ground control to taxi to the northeast "t" hangars from the northwest "t" hangars on the east side of the airport. I was proceeding east on the terminal ramp taxiway. As I was about to merge heading northeast bound onto the parallel taxiway for runway 6/24, I suddenly saw to my right rear a Cessna 182 taxiing at a high rate of speed within moments of colliding with the right rear of my aircraft. I executed an immediate emergency stop to avoid being hit. As a result of the forced stop, I avoided being hit by the Cessna 182, but the tail of my aircraft came up and with the approximate 10 to 12 knot tailwind the tail continued on up and the aircraft came to a rest on its nose. (-5)C140 STOPPED SUDDENLY TO AVOID COLLISSION WITH ANOTHER AIRCRAFT. WARREN S. WILLIAMS, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ MARCH 16, 1997, I AM WRITING TO DESCRIBE AN INCIDENT I SAW THIS AFTERNOON AT ANN ARBOR AIRPORT.
