From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on Thursday, March 27, 1997 at 1407 local time, a Cessna 150, N68148, owned by east hill flying club, Ithaca, new york, lost power during a local flight. The student pilot could only get 1200 to 1400 RPM and returned to the airport and landed without incident. Maintenance checked the aircraft and could only get 1000 RPM on a ground run-up. Maintenance checked the fuel system, disassembled the carburetor and found a small insect in the nozzle power jet assembly. They repaired the system and the run-up check was then ok.
