From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

Narrative: on April 6, 1997, at approximately 1540 CST, a Bell helicopter, model BHT-206-biii, N2155Z, operated air logistics on a training flight under title 14 CFR part 91. The pilot in command (PIC), Mr. Dolph aubert todd is a flight instructor for air logistics. While conducting training at the New Iberia, Acadiana airport (ara) the PIC, flying from the left seat, was turning up the volume on the communications radio and inadvertently hit the right collective, causing the helicopter to settle to the ground. The helicopter hit hard on the right skid and the tail stinger causing minor damage to the aircraft. The flight instructor and his student was not injured. The flight instructor was counseled as to the importance of having the collective friction on or to land the helicopter any time that his hand is not on the collective and the helicopter is at a hover.
