From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Lost power on climbout struck trees and burned. No engine defects. Fuel selector in off position. (-23) on take off the pilot said the engine stopped developing power at 150FT. He said he turned to the left so he could go around and land the aircraft. After losing more altitude he leveled the wings and went into the trees. He said fuel was leaking from the ruptured fuel tank onto the engine. Pilot and passenger immediately exited aircraft. Aircraft burst into flame. Fire consumed the aircraft.
