From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

Narrative: on April 22, 1997, Mr. Steven p. rocco, airport manager, Marco Island executive airport, reported that aircraft N500KG had crashed at his facility with no reported injuries. He stated he witnessed the aircraft N500KG, make a series of hops from the left to the right and then lift off the ground to approximately 18 to 24 inches. He further stated, the aircraft was in a hover and rotated 180 degrees and slipped off to the left. The left skid contacted the ramp and struts on the;left side of the aircraft collapsed. The pilot Mr. Karl h. geng provided the following information: the helicopter a mini revolution 500 had recently been trucked to naples Florida from California. The aircraft had 2.5 total hours in service. He stated the aircraft was lifted into a hover to check torque performance after making adjustment to the carburetor. He stated the aircraft rolled over on its left side as he landed the aircraft. Upon exiting the aircraft he discovered the left struts had buckled. He further stated, he contacted the manufacturer and they suspect the struts were damaged while in transit to Florida.
