What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Narrative: Memphis International Airport, C182 skylane aircraft, N759NJ, at 2040Z, on 05/23/97, the aircraft was exiting runway 18C and swerved off of the taxiway and struck an edgelight. Due to fluid leaking out of the right brake cylinder, the brake failed. The aircraft went left when the pilot applied the brakes to enter the taxiway. The aircraft was not damaged from hitting the edgelight, and there was no injury to the pilot or passenger. The brake pads and cylinder o'rings were replaced on both sides. Brake rotars were within limits, but scheduled for a change at the next annual inspection. Although the pads were replaced on the right brake at the last 100 hr. Inspection, the rough rotar and excessive use wore out the brake pad. This allowed the cylinder to over extend and pass the o'ring allowing the brake fluid to blow out.
