From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on may 24, 1997, at approximately 12:30 a.m. PDT, a Piper PA-28R-200, piloted by john adair, was taxiing from the active runway to parking at Riverside Municipal Airport, when the aircraft struck a runway sign along side one of the taxiways. Damage to the aircraft was minor and there were no injuries. The taxiway lights were out of service and have been for more than a year. The aircraft struck a runway identifier box within a few feet of where another aircraft hit a berm a few months before while attempting to taxi to parking. The airport manager told the pilot he thought this particular runway sign was illuminated, but the pilot reported the following night that none of the runway sign boxes were lit. The taxiway light outage has been discussed with the airport maintenance supervisor and they are awaiting grant money to rewire the taxiway lights. This incident is closed.
