From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: the pilot stated: preflight checks and runup were normal, take off run and climbout also were normal. After turning se from runway heading (27) and achieving 2100 MSL, pilot contacted pgh for clearance to agc to shoot multiple approaches. Seconds after receiving a transponder code, the engine quit. Attempts to restart were unsuccessful so an attempt to return to afj was made. In an attempt to make the field, pilot held the gear up until the last moment and upon contacting the grass short of the paved runway, the left main collapsed and he skidded and stopped partially on the se portion of the runway. The above to the best of the pilot's memory.
