From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft crashed on takeoff. (-23) Mr. Rainey had just refueled and reloaded the hopper on his aircraft. His fuel was increased to 120 gals with a max capacity of 176 and his hopper held 3100 lbs with a max capacity of 3200 lbs. The runway is a sod strip. On lift off, Mr. Rainey felt the aircraft mush back to earth when he was almost out of ground effect. It is possible that the aircraft was being operated outside of its performance envelope considering the extreme heat.
