From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During the takeoff climb the aircraft's engine started to lose power as the pilot started a left turn out of the pattern for the private airport. The pilot was unable to correct the power loss and made an emergency landing straight ahead. While maneuvering to avoid a barn, the aircraft stal led about fifty feet above the ground and the left wing tip struck the ground first. The aircraft started to rotate about the wing and landed on the nose and then turned to face the barn. The aircraft received substantial damage during the impact with the ground. The pilot and the passenger walked away from the aircraft and both suffered no reported injuries.
