From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: while on descent to Lewiston, Idaho, the pilot reported to lws ATCT that the engine began running rough and oil was evident on the cowling. Smoke was entering the cockpit and shortly thereafter the engine stopped and an emergency landing was completed in a field adjacent to polk airport. Subsequent field inspection revealed that there were two holes in the engine case. One located between cylinders 1 & 2 and another between cylinders 5 & 6. The engine still had a sufficient amount of oil in the engine case. There was no injury to the occupants or damage to the aircraft.
