From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-5) On July 21, 1997, at approximately 1830, an Ercoupe 415C, N99969, the pilot, Mrs. Larry thomason, and a passenger were returning to Sallisaw airport from lake tenkiller when the engine quit. The pilot landed the aircraft in a field and during rollout, it crossed an erosion drain ditch. The aircraft turned and skidded on its side. The nose gear, one blade of the propeller and landing gear were bent. The header tank was empty, but the two wing tanks were more than half full. The fuel pump filter was partially blocked with dirt, preventing the pump from pumping fuel to the header tank. Mr. Thomason said he observed the head indicator was low, but thought he saw it bobbing, and thought there was fuel in the header tank until the engine quit. The aircraft suffered minor damage. There was no fire, no one was injured, and there was no other property damage.
