From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on July 27, 1997, at 05:39 local time, under VMC conditions, N414EX, B-727, operated by ryan international airlines for emery (under contract with U.S. Postal service), taxied into parking space on the cargo ramp at iah. No ground handler was present to marshall the aircraft, so the captain tried to line up the l/h forward pax door with an airstair which was parked on the ramp. During this maneuver the #3 leading edge slat hit a k-loader, which was also parked on the ramp, causing a 4"X2" hole in the skin and puncturing the hot-air anti-icing duct. There were no injuries to personnel. privacy data omitted
