From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: aircraft N4953N, a Cessna 182Q, with pilot and two passengers landed midway down runway 03 with 40 degrees flap selected. The wind was reported to be variable direction to favor 180 degrees at 10KTS. The pilot upon seeing the approaching end in sight, applied brakes, but was unable to bring the aircraft to a full stop. Tire marks were left on the runway, with most braking signature from the right wheel. The aircraft left the end of the runway and went through a wooden fence post coming to stop in the road. The distance from the end of the runway to the road is approx. 25 feet. The pilot could not remember if he closed the throttle, to full idle on rollout, and remembers leaving flaps at 40'. The pilot remembers seeing the windsock swing to a tail wind as he crossed the threshold to runway 03. The aircraft received damage to the following: propeller, engine, lower cowl, and nosegear fork. There were no mechanical problems that could have caused this incident. privacy data omitted
