From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: during eec malfunction training student was st & level 70% torque. Inspector pilot rotated rt. Twist grip toward off just enough to get "eec man" light (approx. 1/8") and as light illuminated left eng torque/egt indicator strips went to maximum. The collective was immediately reduced and the a/c was flown on the left eng. While trying to determine the problem (86% torque/egt green 65 KTS.) Right was "0" torque approx. 450 degrees displayed by exception was up & 65% ng was displayed (idle!) "Eec man" was attempted to be reset, indication was successful (flashed) but torque remained "0". Then ng decayed to 17% & con't (eng failed) shortly after fire light illuminated, engine was secured by applicant to include fuel valve & ip rotated twist grip to min. Fuel flow. Another aircraft checked for smoke (formation) & found no indication of fire. Ip elected to fly home. Landing was without incident to apache ramp. Post flt. Revealed fire had occurred, cowling was burnt/ no smoke.
