From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on September 28, 1997, at the Norton airstrip (private grass strip) in summerfield, FL, Mr. Alan o'cull, pilot and owner of a Piper, LPA-22-160 lost control on landing and crashed causing major aircraft damage with only minor injuries to the pilot and passenger. The pilot stated he attempted a go-around after his approach took him too FAR down the runway. The throttle was swiftly moved forward when the engine hesitated causing the aircraft to settle down on the runway. As the aircraft settled to the runway the engine started producing full power causing the aircraft to rapidly contact the grass strip. Due to a cross wind and the manor the aircrft was facing when it hit the runway, it veered to the left off the runway through high grass and shrubs, through a barbed wire fence coming to a full stop when it contacted a large tree with the left wing, and nosed over up side down. The occupants egressed without any further events.
