From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: the subject aircraft was on a VFR cross-country flight from bay city, Wisconsin (rgk) to albany, new york (NY22). The pilot planned for a fuel stop at Wellsboro, Pennsylvania (N38). Upon reaching N38, the pilot discovered a direct cross-wind was coming from his left on approach to runway 28. The pilot then decided to go around since his airspeed appeared to be too high. During the next approach to land, the aircraft touched down on runway 28 but began to porpoise so the pilot added power to go around. A gust of wind pitched the left wing up and the aircraft moved sideways off the paved surface. The right main landing gear entered a ditch causing damage to both landing gear and the propeller. On site evaluation of the aircraft did not reveal any mechanical defect that would result in the loss of control. privacy data omitted Submission of this report closed this incident.
