From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Experienced an N2 engine fire warning light immediately after takeoff, shut down engine plane would not sustain flight. (-23) during cruise flight over the Gulf of Mexico, the no.2 engine fire light illuminated. As the pilot appraoched the platform, the engine started to bog down. The pilot deployed the floats and set the aircraft into the water. The life raft was deployed. The aircraft listed to the right and everyone exited the aircraft. The pilot exited the aircraft through the copilot's side and jumped to the raft. During the tow, the right float started to tear free from the skid and the aircraft rocked, rolled over on its back, and eventually sank.
