From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: pilot had just taken off from the kcpd heliport during initial climbout, the pilot heard and felt a "burp" from the engine and he immediately glanced at the rotor/engine tac generator and saw the tac needles were split. He stated the rotor needle indicator was continuing to decrease in RPM. He immediately entered into autorotative procedures and landed on eastern street just south of the helipad. There was no property damage, no damage to the helicopter, and there were no injuries to the pilot and passenger. The helicopter was loaded on a trailer and taken back to the kcpd maintenance facility where the tac generator was replaced. Type of flying - other police patrol.
