From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on Friday, October 31, 1997, at 1921 EST, a Fokker F-100, N2CN, operated by American airlines, made a precautionary landing at Buffalo international airport after reporting an oxygen quantity problem while enroute from ord to bos. The first officer's mask was stuck in the "on" position and the oxygen cylinder was depleted, the pressure indication had dropped and the crew did not have enough fuel to operate at a lower flight level required by the new oxygen condition. The aircraft landed at Buffalo international airport without incident. There were no injuries. Maintenance reset the mask, changed the depleted oxygen cylinder for a properly charged one, refueled the aircraft and dispatched it for the remainder of the flight. This incident is considered closed.
