From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Acft crashed und unk circ, 2 POB suffered fatal inj, acft was destroyed by fire. Roysecity, TX. (.4)witnesses observed the twin engine airplane in a 'slightly nose-down flat spin.' Other witnesses reported that a 'sputter or cough' and a 'faint stall-out' directed their attention to the 'spiraling' airplane. Ground signatures and wreckage distribution were consistent with a vertical impact in a flat attitude. The main fuel tanks were topped off with 70.2 gallons of fuel for the 534 NM cross country flight. The amount of fuel in the auxiliary fuel tanks at time of departure could not be determined. Both fuel selectors were found between the aux and off positions. No anomalies were noted during the engine runs of both engines, and control continuity was established to all flight controls. Toxicology findings were positive for methamphetamine, amphetamine, chlorpheniramine, phenylpropanolamine, ephedrine, and salicylate. In the opinion of Dr. Canfield, civil aeromedical institute (cami), the levels of both methamphetamine and amphetamine detected in the pilot and passenger were very high and would have caused impairment in performa nce in the cockpit. (-23) aircraft observed by witnesses spinning out of sky. Heard one "pop". Not loud engine noise during spinning. Aircraft impacted upright and was destroyed by postcrash fire. 2 fatal occupants. One occupant in front right seat. One occupant in rear left area of cabin. Cause of crash undetermined at this time.
