From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Lost power enroute. Struck a tree landing. No engine defects. Indicates carb icing. OAT 25 degrees. (-23) pilot stated he made power reduction from 2400 RPM to 2000 RPM to initiate descent into hnz. Engine went to idle (or quit) and the propeller windmilled. Pilot initiated emergency procedures, these failed to return the engine to normal function. Pilot selected a field and in an effort to clear power lines (he went under them) struck trees prior to touchdown in plowed field. Pilot and pax were not injured. Pilot performed well. An abundance of fuel was found on board. Further inspection of aircraft and engine components to be completed.
