From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on 12-23-97 at approximately 12:45 local, Mr. Leseberg was landing his super cub, N82479, on rwy 15 of the Boulder City, Nevada airport. Mr. Leseberg occupied the rear seat, while his friend, a fellow pilot occupied the front seat. Mr. Leseberg allowed his friend to maintain light control of the flight controls during the landing phase. Once the aircraft touched down, it departed the runway to the left and came to rest upon an 18" sandy berm, causing major damage to the right, and left main gear. Mr. Leseberg concluded that the front seater may have applied left braking unintentionally, which could not be overpowered by him.
