From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-5)A pilot and one passenger departed ruq on a local VFR flight conducted under part 91 of the FARS. Upon retracting the gear, pilot heard a loud thump from under his feet. Gear up light was never illuminated and tip tank mirrors confirmed that nose gear was only partially retracted. Attempts to lower nose gear were unsuccessful. Pilot chose to fly to gso where energency equipment was abundant and a flyby of gso tower confirmed that nose gear was unsafe. Pilot declared an emergency and landed aircraft on runway 23 at gso with nose gear retracted. There were no injuries. Subsequent investigation revealed idler bellcrank, p/n 0842102, had failed. This component is part of the nose gear retraction system.
