From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on January 5, 1998, at 1515 MST a Beechcraft model 58TC, N201D, owned by cutter aviation, inc. experienced a premature landing gear retraction while departing runway 24 at Ruidoso, NM during a 14 CFR part 135 flight. VMC conditions prevailed, an IFR flight plan was filed. The aircraft received minor damage, the flight crew and two passengers were uninjured. The PIC holds a commercial certificate, with multi-engine, instrument airplane ratings. The flight originated at Ruidoso at 1514 MST. Post accident investigation finds the gear selector position warning system did not function properly. Based on evidence it appears the landing gear selector switch was in the "up" position at the beginning of the take-off roll. PIC failed to properly utilize the aircraft prestart checklist.
