Narrative: on 01/22/98, at 2350 CST, trans states airlines, inc., dba trans world express (raia) flight 130 saint louis airport, MO (stl) to Peoria airport, IL (pia) the aircraft N721TE, ATP-72, RH engine fire warning system gave an alert to the flight crew during landing at pia. The aircraft landed safely on runway 31R where the 10 passengers and 4 crewmembers evacuated the aircraft without any injuries from this incident. There was no report of an actual fire or flames from the RH engine during or after the landing. This incident is closed with this report. On 01/23/98, an on-the-scene investigation was conducted by the FAA spi/fsdo, representatives from raia and telephone coordination with the chicago NTSB office and raia's FAA air carrier certificate office, stl/cmo. This investigation and inspection confirmed there was no fire or fire damage to the engine or aircraft. The fire warning system was operating under the provisions of the aircraft's approved minimum equipment list (MEL) for this flight. During the visual inspection of the engine, a small hole was discovered in the RH engine's exhaust tail pipe forward section. The engine's exhaust gases and hot air from the small hoye was directed straight up onto a support flange of the tail pipe and was channeled to a fire warning system sensor. There were visual signs that this tail pipe had been subjected to an internal failure. On 01/24/98, raia repaired the fire warning system and replaced the RH engine tail pipe, the aircrft was released for a FAR part 91 flight to stl, raia flight lof 541. During cruise climb out of pia at flight level 2.0 there was a repeat RH engine cockpit fire warning indication and the aircraft returned to pia. This fire warning indication was reported as being caused by a defective fire warning sensor in the engine compartment and no other problems were found. The sensor was reported as being replaced and the aircraft departed pia and returned to stl without any further incident. This incident is reported under spi FSDO FAA I.d.: SPI1998005 on FAA form 8020-23. A service difficulty report (SDR) of the maintenance performed on N721TE will be provided by raia to the FAA air carrier certificate office, stl/cmo.
