From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on February 8, 1998, Mr. William d. wehr, private pilot, certificate number 282304417, and one passenger (wife), departed don scott field, Columbus, Ohio (osu) at 1233, EST in a Cessna (CE-182RG), N341JC, serial number 18200577 enroute to warwick, rhode island, for a FAR 91 leisure flight. At 1237 EST, Mr. Wehr stated that he experienced a complete electrical failure as he raised the landing gear. He returned to (osu) and made an emergency landing on runway 9R. During landing rollout all three landing gear collapsed and the aircraft sustained minor damage and there were no injuries. Subsequent inspection of N341JC by ASI jay c. wilkins and phillip d. troutwine of the cmh FSDO discovered that the aircraft battery had no electrolyte (water) and apparently due to the high demand placed on the electrical system, a system overvoltage occurred and removed the alternator from providing aircraft electrical power, causing the electrical failure.

As the FAA filed it
