From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: Mr. Baxter stated the following on 03/03/98 at the sat FSDO: "at approximately 1755 hrs I saw the field, canceled my ifr/flight plan, squawked 1200, reduced power, extended approach flaps, lined up with the runway, went to full forward RPM, put my gas on fuller tank, mixture full rich, that is, I did a "gump" check, except I failed to put my gear down." "I put down full flaps as I approached the threshold and trimmed nose-up for landing, it seemed that the airplane floated a bit more than usual so I came to idle just before touchdown." Touchdown was smooth, but I thought the noise of touchdown was noisy-like landing on gravel or psp."

"I PUT DOWN FULL FLAPS AS I APPROACHED THE THRESHOLD AND TRIMMED NOSE-UP FOR LANDING, IT SEEMED THAT THE AIRPLANE FLOATED A BIT MORE THAN USUAL SO I CAME TO IDLE JUST BEFORE TOUCHDOWN." TOUCHDOWN WAS SMOOTH, BUT I THOUGHT THE NOISE OF TOUCHDOWN WAS NOISY-LIKE LANDING ON GRAVEL OR PSP."
