From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Left wheel axle broke on landing roll. Left wing struck the ground. Axle attach bolts were stripped of threads. (.4)the pilot landed the tailwheel-equipped airplane on a hard surface runway. The airplane was equipped with 29-inch tundra tires. During the landing roll, the left main landing gear wheel began to vibrate. The left wheel axle then broke, and the left wheel departed from the landing gear strut. The left wing tip struck the ground, and the airplane received damage to the left wing, left aileron, and the left elevator. The pilot stated the axle attaching bolts that secure the axle to the strut were stripped of their threads. (-23) after a smooth, gentle touchdown during a bfr, the pilot observed the left main gear wheel roll ahead of the aircraft. The left gear leg began to drag and the aircraft yawed left. In spite of corrective action by the pilot, the aircraft skidded to the right and the tail struck a snowbank. The aircraft came to rest upright with damage to the left wing and horizontal stabilizer. The four nas bolts holding the wheel spindle to the gear leg had stripped through their nuts.
